About Tory Lysik
I am an award-winning data journalist based in New York City. I am passionate about using data and graphics as tools to uncover the stories that impact people’s lives, and build a better world. I have worked with numerous outlets such as Axios, The Associated Press, Marshall Project and Cipher, where I have reported engaging data visualizations and wrote compelling data-focused articles on topics including U.S. weapons sales, Ai falsifications and law enforcement unemployment decline. I love what I do, and am incredibly grateful to the amazing mentors and people I have been honored to meet in my career. Whether it’s digging the deepest rabbit hole in legal documents, spending hours filing the perfect FOIA, or creating detailed maps to help identify human rights issues. I love getting to be tedious in my work — taking the most complicated topics or datasets and making them understandable.
