ABOUT TOM ORIORDAN

I’m a Legal 500-recognised lawyer and Partner at Willans, where I lead our dedicated Trusts sub-team within the wider Private Client department. My focus is on the creation and administration of trusts—a complex but rewarding area that plays a vital role in tax planning, wealth protection, and supporting beneficiaries who may not be able to manage assets themselves.I work with a diverse range of clients, from families planning for future generations to vulnerable and elderly individuals who need tailored solutions. My role spans every aspect of trust management:Advising trustees and beneficiariesHandling trust compliance (including the Trust Registration Service)Coordinating with investment managersPreparing deeds and documentationManaging trustee meetingsInheritance tax calculationsWinding up trusts when the time comesBeyond trusts, I also advise on wills (simple and complex), estate administration, and lasting powers of attorney—helping clients navigate sensitive decisions with clarity and confidence.I combine technical expertise with a practical, empathetic approach. I’m passionate about making complex legal processes understandable and ensuring clients feel supported every step of the way.Outside of my client work, I’m proud to be an LGBTQIA+ Champion at Willans, promoting awareness and fostering an inclusive environment for colleagues and clients alike.
