Care for patient populations in a level I trauma center including pre and post-op surgical patients, liver transplants, trauma patients presenting with the lethal triad, hemorrhagic shock, septic shock, cardiac arrest, and acute respiratory failure. Manage patients with needs such as mechanical ventilation, arterial lines, PA catheters, CVP monitoring, external ventricular drains and CRRT. Assist in bedside procedures such a bronchoscopy, endotracheal intubation and extubation, cardioversion, and invasive line placement. Precept of new graduate nurses onto the unit. Administer and titrate medications including NMB agents, inotropes, vasodilators, vasopressors, sedatives and antiarrhythmics. Respond to cardiac arrest and intubation codes on non ICU floors throughout the hospital.
