ABOUT TONY SUN
With over four years of software engineering experience, I am passionate about creating innovative and scalable solutions that enhance the user experience and deliver value to the business. My field of expertise is in distributed systems and cloud computing, and I am currently a senior software engineer at The New York Times, supporting the newsroom to produce and share world class journalism on the digital front page.In my previous role at Dataminr, I worked on the Auto-Alerting team, building platforms to enrich the vast quantities of data we ingest from the web in real-time. I collaborated with AI, data, and engineering teams to integrate new AI models and business rules into the platform’s contextualization engine, created and maintained a variety of supporting microservices, gRPC, and RESTful API clients, and built APIs to increase the quantity and quality of auto-alerts. I used Python, Scala, Java, and AWS technologies to develop and deploy these solutions, and I also obtained the AWS Solutions Architect Associate certification to enhance my cloud skills and knowledge.
