ABOUT TONY ROMEO

I’m an award-winning television host, executive producer, and digital storyteller with a passion for creating content that connects people. For 15+ years, I’ve produced original content for broadcast, web, and social media — from full episodes and feature segments to viral clips, photo galleries, memes, quizzes, and other digital-first staples.Based on the success of my early digital content at PHL17, I conceived, launched, and continue to lead Weekend Philler — now in its 10th season and counting. What began as Facebook-first videos evolved into an award-winning lifestyle show blending humor, heart, and local flavor. I developed a unique storytelling format where subjects tell their own stories, supported by award-winning b-roll and thoughtful editing — a fresh approach that consistently ranks #2 or #3 in Saturday Nielsen ratings in the nation’s fourth-largest TV market. Many Weekend Philler segments are sponsored, but the integration is seamless — the audience never knows the difference. By combining authentic storytelling with smart branded partnerships, the show not only drives ratings and engagement but also generates significant revenue without compromising its voice or purpose. To bring Weekend Philler off the screen and into the community, I began hosting live trivia nights at a venue I first discovered while filming the show. What started as a fun experiment has grown into a strong social following and an intergenerational community hub that keeps viewers connected to the station while bringing people together through laughter, competition, and local pride. My work has fostered lasting partnerships with local businesses, tourism boards, and civic groups and is regularly featured at community events and across regional media — helping strengthen the identity and pride of Philadelphia, South Jersey, and beyond.
