About Tony Diethelm

Hello! I\'m a Software Engineer working in JavaScript, Express.js and React.js on Node.js, Python, NoSQL and SQL databases. I enjoy working on Open Source projects. I enjoy problem solving with other creative and talented people. I enjoy making things that help people. I value diversity and inclusiveness. Different perspectives and skills make a team stronger, and mutual respect is everything. Mentoring builds a team\'s skills, but also helps build mutual respect and a sense of safety that I really value. Also, it\'s just being a good human being to respect your fellow human beings. I\'m also a Maker. My background is in Electrical Engineering. I build CNC machines for fun and use them to make musical instruments. I\'ve also enjoyed building Tiny Houses and learning carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and project management skills. I sew clothing, tinker with bicycles, and attempt carpentry projects. I live in an intentional community. Although I love working with hardware, I appreciate how accessible Software Engineering is. Hardware takes resources to get into, and resources to make projects with, and people often do not have those resources. Software Engineering allows creative and talented people can make amazing things that have real world impacts, all with little resources. I want to spend my skills and efforts making the world a better place.
