I have 2nd line oversight of the processes that branch employees perform in nearly chase branches across 48 states. I consult business leaders of the risks associated with implementing new initiatives in our branches as well as changes they want to make to established processes. • Act as a trusted advisor to the line of business while maintaining independence. Meet regularly with branch administration to understand both their long-term plans and short term activities. • Perform threat assessments on new strategic initiatives to ensure that the business has identified all of the risks and has included appropriate controls to mitigate operational and reputational risk. • Prepare monthly business review materials to inform my chief risk officer of the current risk climate of the branch network. • Complete independent reviews of processes to identify operational and reputational risks. Work with the first line of defense and the business to address identified issues. • Monitor metrics and escalate concerns to my chief risk officer and risk committees as necessary. • Provide council on emerging and quickly evolving innovations within the branch network. Challenge the product and capabilities teams by bringing a risk averse mindset to the table. • Review changes to branch operating models and standard operating procedures to ensure that the business is not adding any material risk to the process and that the process remains compliant with our risk requirements. • Identify and escalate within the risk management framework when the business exposes the firm to risk in an unsafe way. Document credible challenges of the business and the outcomes of my credible challenges.
