ABOUT TONYA JOSEY

As the founder of Thrive Counseling Services PLLC and a licensed clinical social worker in both North and South Carolina, I have dedicated my career to providing compassionate and individualized mental health care. After spending 10+ years working for large agencies and witnessing firsthand the challenges that come with seeking therapy, I was inspired to create a more personal therapeutic experience. This led me to establish my group practice, aiming to treat each person not as a diagnosis but as a unique individual. My passion for people and commitment to offering support in a caring manner is what drives my practice, reaching out to those in need with open arms. With over 30 years of experience in providing psychotherapy to people of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds, my journey has been incredibly fulfilling. I have worked across various settings, including outpatient therapy for both children and adults, intensive in-home needs for families, the public school system supporting children and adolescents, and psychiatric hospitals for children. This extensive experience has allowed me to develop a deep understanding of the diverse needs within our communities. In addition to my work with Thrive Counseling Services PLLC, I am also the proud founder of Thrive & Balance Retreats. This initiative is dedicated to mental health professionals looking for a destination to earn continuing education credits in a space that supports their well-being and professional growth. Moreover, Thrive & Balance Retreats welcomes individuals with special interests, providing them with opportunities to connect, share experiences, and create a sense of community. It is my belief that by fostering an environment where learning, healing, and the joy of discovery converge, we can facilitate both individual transformation and collective growth. Together, Thrive Counseling Services PLLC and Thrive & Balance Retreats embody my commitment to enhancing the mental health landscape by offering services that recognize the uniqueness of each individual and the power of community support.
