About Tonya Graham
My professional expertise lies in community-based climate change adaptation and resilience processes. Since 2008 I have served as the Executive Director of the Geos Institute and led efforts to develop the Whole Community Resilience planning framework, which integrates the needs of natural systems and under-represented communities. I am the co-author of the Geos Institute\'s Practical Guide to Building Climate Resilience and have led the effort to develop Climate Ready Communities, an \"assisted do-it-yourself\" program for small to mid-sized and under-resourced communities. I have served as the project lead on planning projects with communities around the country to help them understand the likely future climate conditions for their area, determine their vulnerabilities, and identify strategies for reducing those risks. Our goal in these projects is to help communities jump start their climate programs through the development of climate resilience plans and the conscious effort to build local adaptive capacity. My current focus is on developing Climate Ready America, a nationwide system of climate services that helps communities reduce greenhouse gas emissions and build climate resilience. I serve on the FEMA National Advisory Council as well as the League of Oregon Cities\' Energy and Environment Committee.

The Geos Institute works to keep human and natural communities whole in the face of changing climate conditions.
