ABOUT TONY CARRUTHERS
I am an effective Senior HR Professional with over 20 years experience focussing on employee engagement and workforce development. My responsibilities have been across a wide geographical area and with experience managing projects from strategic restructuring to recruitment initiatives, culture change and organisational development. At Guardian People Solutions we aim to support organisations with all aspects of managing their people. This includes broad generalist HR services delivered ad hoc or on a retained basis. We can deliver both tailored learning & management development. We work alongside leaders in organisations as a mentor to help them to develop their own people management skills and to offer a perspective on their options when considering people challenges and organisational change. Examples of our work have include HR Audit, policy review and redesign, employee relations issues, complex investigations (where an independent expert can form a view from outside the usual organisational boundaries), management support and mentoring, sensitive TUPE transfer issues and organisational restructuring. My specific areas of interest include workforce planning, mentoring management teams and transactional and transformational people management processes. Also, I continue to work raising the profile of the excellent support to the armed forces community being delivered by Housing Options Scotland through the Military Matters project. Knowing the organisation as well as I do, there are a range of housing skills & knowledge available to serving personnel, veterans and their families which can make a real difference. Our recent successes include an Armed Forces Covenant Funded project to reach serving families as well as the soldiers, sailors and airmen/women themselves. We provide a bespoke service focussed on the individual and work with partners across the military and veterans landscape. When it comes to making the right choices for your future home, the MM project is unique. Our help is invaluable when there are more complex casework issues, debt or disability, or where unexpected changes in circumstances can lead to feeling unsure. I work closely with others in the transition, armed forces families organisations and veteran’s landscape to improve the level of support and the level of housing knowledge to gain successful outcomes.
