WORK HISTORY
Founder Owner @Healing Out Loud
Baltimore, MD, US
Tonia Lott was born and raised in Baltimore City. She has a bachelor’s degree in media arts from Coppin State University. As a first-time author, she is turning her pain from losing her son to suicide August 2023, without ever knowing he was depressed, into a meaningful purpose. Her memoir, My Beautiful Black Son Died by Suicide (found on Amazon) is to help bring awareness and break the stigma of depression, mental health, and suicide specifically for but NOT limited to the Black community. It is the author’s goal that the book will help shed a light that depression may not look like one would think and the signs that were missed. Additionally, if tragedy does strike, the hope is that the book will help other parents not feel so alone. Through writing this memoir, it’s Tonia’s hope to bring a call to action, encouraging open conversations within families and communities about mental health. The book offers an intimate and powerful message that even in the darkest moments, there is space for healing and forgiveness. Hence, the company name, founded by Tonia, Healing Out Loud L.L.C.
