ABOUT TONI CLEVELAND
Dr. Cleveland has served as both a community college president in New York State and Vice-Chancellor of Academic Services, Student Affairs, and Research for the Virginia Community College System and retired in 2005. She formed a consulting firm and began doing higher education consulting. In 20••••06, she assisted one of the Virginia Community Colleges, Piedmont Virginia Community College, serving as Vice President for Student Services. During the 8 months there, she had responsibility for re-engineering enrollment services, counseling and financial aid. She assisted in the final upgrades for PeopleSoft in the financial area. In January of 2007, she became President and CEO of H.E.R.D.I.(Higher Education Research and Development Institute). She has been a Teacher, Director of Continuing Education/Workforce Development, College Dean and Community College President before coming to Virginia. Always active in leadership activities and community affairs, she has chaired city and county planning boards in central New York and was awarded the Community Leader Award by the Niagara Falls Chamber of Commerce, YWCA Outstanding Woman of the Year in Education Award, and Educator of the Year Award by the Western NY Junior Achievement. She also served as President of the American Lung Association of New York State. and numerous other Boards in Virginia. She i the Ocean Dunes POA as Vice President and the CCUOA as secretary. She is an active member of Richmond Country Club currently serving on the nominating committee. She joined the IMS Global Learning Consortium Executive Strategic Council (ESC) in 2013. In 2017, she co-founded HERDI Innovate to provide small and start up technology companies with an opportunity to learn how to improve their access and better serve the community college sector.
