About Tom Schnieders
Hi I’m Tom, a user experience (UX) researcher and human factors (HF) engineer. For the past decade I have transformed user behavior through my research in designing, manufacturing, and testing exoskeletons. My research has aimed to better understand ergonomics and physiological aspects in human factors design. My research has resulted in 20+ peer-reviewed publications and presentations on applying theoretical physical and cognitive human factors in real-world situations. I am motivated by the bringing together of theory and practice—that is, seeing end users benefit from my research. My recent research has been focused on leading diverse research projects such as new additive manufacturing techniques; drone swarm technology for the sheriff’s department; and exoskeleton design, manufacture, and testing. As an associate ergonomics professional with a holistic approach to leading research projects and mentoring research assistants, I apply practical lab and research experience to support the mission of developing professionals and leaders in industrial engineering and management by being a leader in education, research, and outreach. At this point in my research career, I’m seeking opportunities to transition from academia to private industry. Your company will benefit from my experience in co-founding and managing a research lab, mentoring and teaching graduate and undergraduate research assistants, and writing and winning National Science Foundation grants.Reach out to me today, and learn how I can help you reach your UX and HF mission.
