About Tomoaki Ishii
I am an investment professional with an energy transition focus; extensive development and investment experience in global infrastructure across waste-to-energy, water/wastewater, renewable energy, transportation, and, more recently, hydrogen and its derivatives; and expertise in Project Finance and Public-Private Partnerships grew up in a region with a poor sanitary environment due to underdeveloped sewage infrastructure and was embarrassed by the unwelcome odors which were a reminder of our community\'s underinvestment in our basic needs. Since childhood, as part of my daily routine, I helped my grandfather, who was the director of a welfare facility for the disabled, clean septic tanks and drains, petition for the development of sewage infrastructure with neighboring residents. Together my grandfather and I also frequently participated in local environmental activities to collect waste materials and recycle resources. Working with my grandfather, I made it my mission to build social infrastructure and livable cities. These childhood experiences led to my working on environmental and clean energy infrastructure development at ITOCHU Corporation, where I have pioneered global infrastructure projects valued at over USD 2.5B, focusing on waste-to-energy (waste management) and water/wastewater over the past decade.I am now committed to building a leading hydrogen derivatives platform, helping complex situations to create a clear path and structured approach, with the purpose of accelerating the pragmatic transition to a future of clean energy.I hold a Bachelor of Engineering degree, Applied Physics, and a Master of Engineering degree, Pure and Applied Physics from Waseda University; and a Master of Business Administration degree, Business Analytics from the University of Southern California.
