I spent the summer analyzing over AI and robotics startups, building a classification system that became our go-to resource for weekly investment meetings. The framework I created helped us identify three vertical AI companies that fit our investment thesis—one of which we\'re still tracking closely.To deepen our conviction, I conducted in-depth industry testing in the autonomous driving and robotic arm sectors. This included landscape analysis, market sizing, and identifying technical bottlenecks and commercial use cases. The insights I gathered helped sharpen our views on which subsegments showed the strongest near-term monetization potential.The real learning happened in founder meetings. I developed a system combining manual notes with AI transcription to capture technical details and strategic insights that often got lost in translation. This improved our follow-up process and helped the team ask better questions in subsequent meetings.What I learned: How to spot patterns in chaos—and that the best investment decisions come from understanding not just what founders are building, but why they\'re building it.
