I am a Cryptographer and Distinguished Technologist at HP, leading the cryptography technology and engineering governance strategy team. I\'ve spent my career getting under the skin of cryptographic security, finding issues, managing risks and innovating. From symmetric to asymmetric primitives, from ciphers to novel functionalities, from mathematical security foundations to application in protocols, systems and services, I\'ve enjoyed working across a wide range of cryptographic technologies.My passion for cryptography stems from a love of problem solving and mathematics. What started as revelry within the rich beauty of cryptographic structures, matured into a quest to understand the pragmatic. Recognition that human fallibility, technology context, business drivers and societal trends have more bearing on the success and effectiveness of a solution than mere theoretical fitness. To this end, I feel the greatest pride in shared achievements where everyone supports and brings out the best in one another and problems can be simultaneously tackled from all sides.I\'ve recently moved into industry from government, having had twenty years\' experience as a cryptographer at the National Cyber Security Centre and its predecessor organisation, CESG, and am engaged and excited by this move!Outside of trying to reason with why blockchain technologies are so popular and why a formal security proof is so desirable, you will find me trying to get my friends to listen to my jazz piano playing and coaching junior rugby.Din
