About Tom Melançon

I recently retired from my position at Commissioner/Mediator/Facilitator at the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS), where I provided nation-wide support and partnership for all mediators and managers to achieve the highest levels of service delivery in each of the FMCS core missions. I have over 35 years of experience as a songwriter, actor, and podcast host, with a passion for creating original Americana/Rock and Roll music and performing dynamic live shows. I also have a strong background in counseling and conflict resolution, with a Master\'s degree in College Student Counseling and Personnel Services from the University of Nevada-Reno. I am committed to using my skills and experience to help resolve conflicts and improve relationships in various settings.

   As a Mediator with the National Projects Office, I provide nation-wide support and partnership for all mediators and managers to achieve the highest levels of service delivery in each of the FMCS core missions – industrial relations, negotiated rulemaking and administrative dispute resolution. Some of my recent efforts have been to lead a team of FMCS Mediators and other staff who are preparing for possible FMCS involvement in the nation-wide Starbucks unionization effort, mapping a strategy with colleague Kevin Hawkins on the FMCS-MIT-Center for Constructive Conflict project and assisting Christy Yoshitomi on re-tooling FMCS’s support of FEB Shared Neutrals Programs.
