   Backrs is a digital, team-based mentoring platform that empowers high-performing, under-resourced young adults (aka “proteges”) to advance from high-school, through college, to an initial successful career experience. How? We connect students with a diverse team of 4-6 near-peers and adults (aka \"backrs\") that offer guidance, connections, and support in a few minutes a week via our app. We partner with philanthropists to fund an ongoing cash stipend to support the protege\'s goals. We integrate and contextualize resources from corporate, academic, and nonprofit partners if and when needed. Why? Gaps in social and financial capital are two of the most pervasive (and addressable) barriers to social mobility. Relationships with just a few better-resourced people and having just a few extra dollars can make a profoundly positive difference. We also know many people are looking for more rewarding, convenient, and high-impact ways to pay it forward. We all would benefit from getting out of our bubbles. Who can back? Any well-motivated person! It’s only a few min per week. It’s through our app. You\'re on a team so no single person bears too much responsibility.
