ABOUT TOM JACOBSEN

I am a Project and Functional Manager with leadership expertise in operations and logistics management. I have a keen ability to build consensus among cross functional teams with diverse drivers and needs. This results in enhanced quality of service, increased revenue and lower operational costs.My favourite thing to do is to create value out of un-tapped opportunities. To drastically improve the bottom-line of a company doesn’t necessarily mean creating new products or expanding into new markets. There is often large un-realized opportunities to generate value by turning available data into action - transforming existing processes– and getting the right people together to implement them.*My greenbelt project brought a competitor, a port authority, a stevedore and internal departments together to improve productivity and profit for all parties.*My black belt project was the North American roll out of the most important strategic initiative at the time for the largest shipping company in the world. I led 4 cross functional teams to increase on time delivery from 84 to 91%.*I transformed a department from the lowest engagement scores to the highest by focusing on direct honest feedback, coaching, developing, motivating, challenging and selecting/de-selecting the right team members. I was later selected to facilitate a global coaching program with the goal of developing the employees and improving dialogue between leaders and the front line teams. To support my project and functional management skills I am certified PMP and PRINCE2 project manager with expertise in: Six Sigma/LEAN / Data analysis / Process Design / Training Development and Delivery / Negotiations / Talent Development.
