Tom Hagley Jr.\'s \"life resume\" highlights- Transitioned from a 30-year career in K-12 school district leadership and communication to a part-time consultant role and a greater emphasis on family, friendship and my passion for improving health and wellness through physically and mentally challenging endurance events and outdoor activities- Led a communication and stakeholder engagement program for a large, urban school district, resulting in successful election campaigns for 11 district operating levies, three capital bond programs, and two technology levies. These measures, combined with state matching funds, grants and donations, generated approximately $2 billion for Vancouver Public Schools between 19••••22. Voter support for these measures ranged from 60 to 72 percent- Named by Education Week as one of 13 U.S. Leaders to Learn From in 2016 for spearheading a strategic initiative to establish Family-Community Resource Centers in high-poverty schools and create two mobile FCRCs to assist other schools. For this initiative, Vancouver Public Schools was the recipient of a 2014 District of Distinction Award from District Administration magazine and three Magna Awards from the American School Board Journal. The FCRCs also were spotlighted in Broader, Bolder, Better: How Schools and Communities Help Students Overcome the Disadvantages of Poverty (Harvard Education Press, 2019)- Received the 2016 Robert J. Handy Most Effective Administrator Award (large district category) from the Washington Association of School Administrators. This award annually recognizes an educational leader who is actualizing nine characteristics of high-performing schools or districts- Received the 2011 Leadership Through Communication Award presented by the American Association of School Administrators, National School Public Relations Association and Blackboard Connect for \"demonstrating exemplary leadership in the enhancement of communication\" within the Vancouver school system and the community it serves- Organized special events for visiting dignitaries including George W. Bush and Laura Bush, Madeleine Albright, Tom Brokaw, members of Congress, state governors, National School Boards Association\'s Technology Leadership Network and Digital Promise\'s League of Innovative Schools- Quoted in Education Week, Business Week, Harvard Education Letter, Phi Delta Kappan, SchoolCEO, Education Executive, Athletic Business, Converge and other publications.
