About Tomas Lutz
As a recent UC Berkeley graduate currently in my gap year, I’m dedicating this time to deepening my clinical, academic, and personal development as I prepare to pursue a career in medicine. I’m currently working full-time as an EMT, volunteering at a local hospital, and continuing to build a well-rounded skillset that combines hands-on experience with intellectual growth and creative expression.Throughout my undergraduate years, I gained valuable exposure to the medical field through my experience as a research assistant at the Alvarez-Buylla Laboratory at UCSF and as a medical intern for Clutch Medical Group. I continue to serve as a volunteer EMT—an experience that has sharpened my ability to stay composed under pressure and connect with patients in meaningful ways. At UC Berkeley, I also had the opportunity to mentor fellow students as a Chem 3AL Teacher-Scholar and a Bio 1B lab mentor, strengthening my communication and leadership abilities while reinforcing my own scientific foundation.My role as Publicity Officer for the Pre-Medical Honor Society allowed me to bridge my analytical mindset with creative strategy, crafting engaging content and spearheading promotional efforts that increased community engagement and event participation. Outside of academics and medicine, I’m passionate about music—producing, playing guitar and piano, and DJing—pursuits that fuel my creativity and bring balance to my life.I aspire to be a physician who not only excels in clinical reasoning but also connects with patients on a human level—bringing empathy, curiosity, and a multidimensional perspective to every interaction. My journey is driven by a deep desire to serve, learn, and grow both professionally and personally.
