Since July 2014 I have been part-time Editor on the material science journal, Materials Today Communications. Materials Today Communications is a new venue for scientific articles submitted to Elsevier material science journals that present good science but which the editors of those journals cannot fit into their publications. As managing editor I am responsible for managing the transition of journals from their parent journal to Materials Today Communications and ensuring that changes recommended by peer reviewers have been completed. We are also now directly sending transfers to our own peer review, and accept transferred manuscripts from esteemed journals such as Polymer, Carbon, Applied Materials Today and Materials & Design. In 2021 I took over as Editor-in-Chief as the journal opened to direct submissions.
