As Associate Director of Research, I work with colleagues internally - and collaborators externally - to ensure the efforts of the R&D teams are being deployed optimally, balancing short-(troubleshooting), medium-(innovation) and long-term (strategic) objectives.Current areas of active research include the development of automated NGS analysis pipelines; characterisation & scale-up of a novel donor template molecule for gene editing (funded in large part by securing an IUK Innovative Technologies grant for Nucleic Acid Medicines Manufacture); automation & scale out of the core dbDNA production process; and efforts to establish an entirely cell-free workflow via development of strategies to allow the fabrication & use of fully-synthetic starting templates.
