ABOUT TOM ABEL
I am a PhD student and social services professional with 10 years\' combined outreach, direct service, and management experience working with youth and newcomer populations in Toronto. I have a deep interest in the intersection of service provision and advocacy, and have a passion for community work that is both rooted in relationships, and strives for systemic change. My PhD research focuses on marketization reforms in Ontario\'s public employment services, specifically their impact on frontline practitioners and supervisors. I also maintain a consulting practice aimed at helping nonprofit organizations build capacity and achieve their goals. Feel free to reach out if you could use support in areas including, but not limited to- program evaluation and research - workforce development programming - training and adult education - strategic planning and organizational development On a personal note: I\'m proud to call Toronto home along with my wife and two energetic kids. When I\'m not sifting through social science journals like a true nerd, I enjoy playing basketball, watching sci-fi, and cooking.
