About Tom Ward

Mr. Ward has extensive experience in the consulting engineering industry with more than 35 years of FDOT drainage design experience. Mr. Ward has provided drainage design support for roadway project pursuits and acquisition. His written and oral skills have yielded high scores from clients for Letters of Interest and for Presentations with winning project acquisition results. Mr. Ward is recognized by peers and clients as a concise presenter in the delivery of comprehensive drainage design approaches and innovative cost effective solutions to complex projects. His comprehensive knowledge of drainage design is also valuable during staff-hour negotiations and insures an adequate budget to meet project demands, and to complete the design under budget and within schedule. Mr. Ward has been responsible for numerous drainage projects. He has provided concise and comprehensive direction to staff with guidance and mentoring during the design of stormwater management systems, bridge hydraulics reports and scour evaluations, cross drains, floodplain analysis, and storm drain systems. Mr. Ward has obtained surface water permits from every water management district in the State of Florida, as well as local, state, and federal governing agencies for major and minor roadways that include mitigation for impaired water bodies impacted by total maximum daily loading (TMDL), drainage design peer reviews, and quality control/quality assurance reviews. He has served as a Drainage Reviewer under General Engineering Consultant (GEC) contracts for FDOT Districts 1 & 7. Mr. Ward has a comprehensive knowledge of the FDOT Drainage Manual and FDOT Drainage Handbooks. Proficient with stormwater management design software to include ICPR PercPak, PONDS, Geopak Drainage, ASAD, FHWA; HY-8, HDS-5, HEC Series, and the FDOT Culvert Service Life Estimator.
