About Tom Stanley
My introduction to the construction industry came early in life. While attending junior college in Cerritos, Ca I was looking for a job to support myself while going to school. That opportunity turned into what would be the start of my career in construction. My first job out of the gates was as a temporary laborer and I was assigned to the project team that was performing the environmental decommissioning of the Lockheed Burbank Plant in Southern Ca. While working on this project, I was pulled out of the group of laborers and put through additional training that included, survey, safety for managers, sampling protocols, Autocad and field documentation protocols. Following the completion of this project, I was asked to travel to Fairbanks Alaska to work on a Army Corp of Engineers Rapid Response project which was a cross road for me, a point where I had to decide whether to remain in school or take advantage of the opportunity that was placed in front of me. With the possibilities that lied ahead, I packed my bags and went to Fairbanks. I continued on this path for 8 years, working with the likes of the Army Corp of Engineers, the Navy, Air force, Marines, Army, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Bureau of Land Management and more. I eventually worked my way up to and remained as a General Foreman up and to the last couple of years of employment. Having a young family, and missing out on their young childhood caused me to make a change in my employment so I began looking and through a friend I landed a job with HBI. It was a short layover as my friend that had brought me on moved onto W. L. Butler Construction. It wasn\'t but 1-2 years later that he reached out and asked if I would make the move to W. L. Butler Construction. So I made the move. During my tenure there I was a superintendent on the first Costco building, site and off site project built by W. L. Butler Construction. Later, I would be the Project Manager that would build store #500 for Costco. During my tenure, I went on to build the first Whole Foods 365 in the country, Walgreens land mark store on Sunset and Vine in Hollywood, several shopping centers, automotive centers, tilt up sites and more. My most recent move, which has been to Jones Covey Group was brought about by the former Vice President of W. L. Butler Construction asking me to move to Jones Covey Group and to assist him with the development of the commercial building and site arm of the company. The company is a fueling first company which I have been working to change, and it remains a work in progress.
