ABOUT TOM SMITH
As a Certified Engineering Technologist, my oil and gas experience is well complemented by a strong balance of production field operations, project coordination and regulatory compliance. I specialize in all aspects of the sour operations of the well life cycle, including production operations, field development; government reporting, applications, permits, licensing and emergency response planning. I am well trained and knowledgeable in the use of industry regulator directives. This includes: • Sour oil and gas production operations field development and well optimization, • Abandonment and asset suspension strategies and programming, • H2S release rate calculations and EPZ determinations,(utilizing nomographs and modeling techniques), • Joint Venture project leadership and management with partner operated projects, • Asset integrity - pipeline corrosion assessment, valve and pressure vessel inspections reporting and mitigation experience, • Fluid sampling analysis and verification programming, • Team leadership, staff recruiting and development, • Collaborating, coaching and mentoring technical and non-technical team members, • Strong regulatory compliance experience understanding and working with AER directives and processes; specifically DIRs 056, 060, 071, • Audit preparation and response experience for local regulators, • Licensing and permitting applications, preparation and technical support.
