ABOUT TOM MCKINLEY
Tom McKinley has worked closely with entrepreneurs for over 35 years to build industry-leading healthcare IT companies by providing executive leadership, investments, and access to an unparalleled network of industry experts and customers. Over Tom\'s career, he has raised 8 venture funds in excess of $2 billion.Tom is currently the founding CEO of Project Connect, a digital health company that was spun out of the Blues plans, Premera Blue Cross, and is focused on real time interoperability between providers and payors. Under Tom\'s leadership, the company has hired over 20 employees since its founding in August 2020 and recently executed a $20+M contract for access to its technology. Tom used a similar template in creating this company as he did several years ago with Prealize Health. As is typical in his company-creation model, Tom will evolve to being a board member as he recruits his successor in the first quarter of 2021.Prior to starting Project Connect, Tom was the CEO of Prealize Health, formerly Cardinal Analytx. Prealize was a startup that Tom co-founded with two Stanford professors, Arnie Milstein and Nigam Shah. The company uses machine learning algorithms to predict high-cost entrants into the health system to enable early intervention and cost saving.Tom currently serves on the board of directors of Teladoc (NYSE: TDOC), an approximately $30B market cap telehealth services company he initially invested in 2009. In addition, he is member of the board of directors of Lifeimage, a cloud-based medical imaging sharing platform for hospitals, physicians, and patients. He also serves on the board of directors of Sapphire Digital, an online resource for patients to find doctors and medical facilities by comparing their cost and quality. Tom also serves as the west coast representative for Cardinal Partners, a venture capital firm focused exclusively on healthcare investing. From 1982 to 2008, Tom was the managing partner and co-founder of Partech International, a venture capital firm that funded over 180 companies and has over $1.5 billion in assets under management at present. In addition to his professional experience, Tom has served on the boards of U.C. Berkeley\'s Entrepreneurs Forum and the Western Association of Venture Capitalists (WAVC). He is a founder of I3 Harvard College Innovation Challenge (undergraduate business plan competition), and a Harvard Class Secretary and Elected Director of Harvard Alumni Association as well as an active alumni of Stanford Graduate School of Business.
