ABOUT TOM LEEMAN

Currently working for Howdens as an SAP Transport Management (TM) Analyst, after a recent promotion following the completion of my degree apprenticeship within the business. Working with SAP TM 9.4 but largely, the rollout of S4/HANA to the business. The role involves supporting Howdens transport operations, onboarding of its Primary and Cross-Docking Centres (PDCs and XDCs) onto S/4. Howdens delivers within the UK, Ireland and parts of Europe. Other SAP modules such as SAP Central (SAP C) and SAP Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM) are integrated into the transport landscape for the end-to-end process, from Purchase Order (PO) creation to vehicle loading. Custom.NET applications are also utilised to manage inbound deliveries from 3rd parties (IDS) and a vehicle/driver resource management solution (TMS). Furthermore, a 3rd party vehicle tracking product (Microlise) is supported by the transport systems team. Whilst also ensuring system stability by, troubleshooting system bugs, maintaining system configuration, managing incident resolution and providing critical out-of-hours support via the on-call rota to guarantee an uninterrupted transport service.Over four years, I completed a BSc (Hons) in Digital & Technology Solutions with First Class Honours as part of a degree apprenticeship with my employers. Delivered in partnership with QA and the University of Roehampton, this program provided a comprehensive curriculum in IT Consultancy and related subjects, including IT Project Management, Business & Delivering Change, and Contemporary Issues in Digital Technology. The hands-on, work-integrated nature of the apprenticeship allowed me to directly apply academic learning to my role, with assignments and coursework heavily linked to real-world projects.
