Tom has extensive experience in Health, Safety, and Environment, with over a 20-year record of success in senior leadership positions. He has had responsibility and accountability for global and regional strategic plan development to improve HSE performance, reduce injury rates, and increase employee engagement, production efficiency, business resilience, and profitability. Working with operations leadership, Tom has experience with, and a good understanding of, the business imperatives in managing risk in a cost-efficient manner.Expertise in health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations (OSHA-EPA and international equivalents) as they applied to Halliburton, Statoil, Athlon, and Kirby. The recognition of compliance issues and subsequent implementation of an improvement plan helped save one organization from losing a permit which would have cost millions of dollars in lost business and compliance fines.In addition, Tom has the extensive external professional network experience to hold leadership positions in key industry organizations such as SPE (Technical Director HSE- Board of Directors) and IOGP (Chair- Safety Data Force), resulting in a vast network of industry contacts. Tom has authored and co-authored over 20 papers and articles within industry journals and conferences on safety leadership and performance management.
