I received my JD/Law Degree from the University of Detroit-Mercy School of Law in May 1988. Since January 2002, I have served as a principal attorney for my law firm with an emphasis on civil litigation, zoning and land use, real estate and business matters, and commercial transactions. I have been named a “Michigan Super Lawyer” since 2018. My practice includes significant involvement with real estate finance, loan restructuring, litigation, business and real estate transactions, leases, zoning and land use, and land development. I have represented local and national users (Walmart, Home Depot, McDonald’s), developers, builders, and lenders for all aspects of land acquisition, development, construction and finance, zoning litigation, entitlements, site plan and PUD approvals. Project values have ranged from a few million to several hundred million dollars. I also represent borrowers in loan modifications and workouts, debt restructuring, foreclosure litigation and related matters. Currently I also serve as corporate counsel to Five Brothers Asset Management Solutions, a nationwide property preservation company, handling all company legal matters, including contract drafting and review, third party vendor issues, risk assessment and management, claims resolution, litigation, and compliance. I am a licensed Michigan real estate broker and also serve as a mediator and facilitator in Macomb and Oakland Counties. I serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Karmanos Cancer Center, a Director of the Karmanos Cancer Institute, and a member of its Patient Quality Care and Compliance Committee. I also have served as a Director for the Children’s Leukemia Foundation of Michigan and I am involved in other charitable organizations.
