ABOUT TOM JENKINS
I help lead the strategic vision and execution of career-connected learning initiatives on behalf of the Montgomery County ESC, aligning educational pathways with evolving workforce demands. In collaboration with Learn to Earn Dayton, I focus on expanding career awareness and ensuring equitable access to high-quality programs that prepare students for success in college, career, and life.My work bridges the gap between education and industry by overseeing Career and Technical Education (CTE), work-based learning models, and employer engagement strategies. Through strong partnerships with local businesses and community organizations, I help ensure students gain meaningful, real-world experience and the future-ready skills needed to thrive in a rapidly changing economy.I previously served as the District STEM Coordinator and Science & STEM Educator at Springfield City & Greenon Local Schools, bringing 27 years of classroom experience and over 15 years of leadership in STEM and invention education. I am a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT) and a U.S. Patent Holder, along with 14 of my former students. I have extensive experience in providing professional development and leading teams through a wide range of projects. I hold a Master\'s degree in Science of Teaching and a Certificate in Secondary Engineering Education.I am passionate about creating innovative and engaging learning opportunities for students and teachers, as well as collaborating with various stakeholders and partners to advance STEM education. Some of my recent achievements and recognitions include: National Teachers Hall of Fame, Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (White House & National Science Foundation), Ohio State Board of Education District 10 Teacher of the Year (2021), Ohio State Teacher of the Year Finalist (2021), Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellow (Department of Defense/US Navy), Air Force Association Ohio State Teacher of the Year, NSTA STEM Fellow, United States Patent and Trademark Office Master Teacher of Invention Education, Intel Skills for Innovation Ambassador, and serving as a DoD STEM Ambassador. I am also a published author, a curriculum developer, a mentor, and a speaker, with multiple appearances and contributions to national and regional platforms and initiatives.
