About Tom Ireland
Senior leader in multiple Squadron and Group-level assignments; advisor to the Commander on leadership, resource management, and unit effectiveness, morale, and cohesion. Has served in multiple leadership roles both at home and in overseas deployed combat environments. Leader, mentor, and coach for the military and civilian members of the organization. Highly experienced aircrew member with over 5,100 flight hours in the KC-135. Qualified or previously qualified in multiple tanker mission sets including Special Operations Air Refueling (SOAR), Air Refueling Receiver (ARR), Multi-Point Refueling System (MPRS), Roll-on Beyond Line-of-Sight Enhancement (ROBE/Link 16), Aeromedical Evacuation (AE), and alert/nuclear operational plans (SIOP/OPLAN). Has had assignments at multiple Air Mobility Command operational KC-135 bases, including numerous contingency deployments around the world, as well as a tour at an Air Education and Training Command Formal Training Unit and two tours at Edwards AFB encompassing both operational test with the Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Center (AFOTEC) and developmental test with the 412th Test Wing, Air Force Test Center. Currently serving as the Operations Group Superintendent overseeing flight test for nine Squadrons/Combined Test Forces, encompassing multiple aircraft including fighters, bombers, airlifters, tankers, ISR, remotely piloted systems (UAV/RPA), as well as a test parachutist program.
