   Thomas J. Filarski is a partner in the Chicago office of Steptoe, where he is a member of the Intellectual Property and other litigation groups. Tom is a recognized leading trial lawyer with over 20 years of experience particularly in patent, Hatch-Waxman, and International Trade Commission matters. He regularly appears in federal district courts throughout the nation and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Tom is \"highly recommended\" as a Leading Life Sciences Patent Litigator by Intellectual Asset Management magazine (20••••11), and he was featured in the Business Edition of Leading Lawyers Network magazine in January 2009. Tom also authors the chapter \"Patent Defenses\" in BNA Books\' Patent Litigation Strategies Handbook (2005), now in its second edition. He is president of the Licensing Executives Society (U.S.A. and Canada), is a charter member of the Richard Linn American Inn of Court chapter in Chicago, and serves on the advisory board of the Clean Energy Trust in Chicago.
