ABOUT TOM CUNNINGHAM

As a strategic and committed leader in education, I bring an extensive experience in driving curriculum innovation, championing teaching & learning excellence, and managing diverse academic teams. Currently Deputy Head of Agriculture & Environmental Sciences at Bridgwater & Taunton College, I lead curriculum development from Level 1 to Level 6 across subject areas including Agriculture, Food Technology, Horticulture, Arboriculture, Floristry, and Countryside management.My strengths are within building high-performing teams, designing forward-thinking programmes, and ensuring quality assurance standards that meet and exceed the expectations of awarding bodies such as BTEC, City & Guilds, NCFE, RHS, and University Partners. I take pride in fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and in developing educational experiences that genuinely prepare students for careers in dynamic and evolving land-based industries.I’m also an active contributor to national assessment standards as an Expert Examiner and Standards Verifier, and I enjoy the opportunity to stay closely engaged with the ever-changing landscape of technical and vocational education, including T-Levels most recently. Above all, I’m passionate about leading with purpose - supporting both staff and students to thrive through innovation, integrity, and collaboration.
