ABOUT TOM CUNNINGHAM

I have a breadth of experience relating to national and local government and communications. I am an experienced local government councillor with 12.5 years experience at both District and County level. I currently serve as Deputy Leader of Braintree District Council and Cabinet Member for Highways, Infrastructure and Sustainable Transport at Essex County Council. Previous local government responsibilities include: regeneration, economic development, strategic planning, strategic investment, skills and town centre improvement. I have politically overseen regeneration projects, strategic investment projects and am currently leading on Highways improvement in Essex. I also have nearly 17 years experience in Conservative political campaign management and election agency. These include four general election campaigns, including the unseating of a Liberal Democrat MP in 2015, being part of a successful Scottish Parliamentary Election Campaign in 2016 and numerous successful local election campaigns in Dorset, Essex and Suffolk. Since June 2015, I have supported the work of Will Quince MP, working largely on communications and public engagement. A background and academic qualifications in business, means I have an affinity with the private sector that also compliments public sector experience.
