Tom represents clients in high-stakes and complex federal and state environmental litigation, in defense of environmental enforcement actions and citizen suits, in response to catastrophic environmental emergencies and chemical releases, in conducting internal investigations into environmental compliance issues, and in connection with groundwater contamination, site cleanup, and cost recovery. He has advised clients on the vast array of environmental statutes in the U.S. including the Clean Air Act; Resource Conservation and Recovery Act; the Clean Water Act; the Endangered Species Act; the Oil Pollution Act; the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act; and the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act. He routinely represents clients in environmental cases filed in federal district courts and California superior courts. He also coordinates Hogan Lovells\' west coast team of environmental attorneys in providing additional environmental compliance and transactional support to clients. Tom is a member of the Environmental, Social, and Governance Board at Hogan Lovells, with responsibility for supporting the development of policies and plans to manage environmental issues across a diverse range of businesses and sectors. Tom serves as the international lead at Hogan Lovells for the Chemicals Industry group, which coordinates client services across the sector. Tom is also the Pro Bono Champion for the San Francisco office, working to support and further Hogan Lovell\'s commitment to pro bono endeavors by the Firm\'s attorneys.
