I serve as spokesperson for HII, supporting the Newport News Shipbuilding division. In this role, I manage external communications and media relations for the programs, people and capabilities of America\'s premiere nuclear shipyard, which builds aircraft carriers and submarines for the U.S. Navy.As a member of the HII Corporate Communications team, I directly support our executives and work to facilitate the themes and messages important to this critical national asset. I develop and execute comprehensive communications plans for company priorities and events, like the keel laying for the next Gerald R. Ford-class aircraft carrier Enterprise (CVN 80). That engagement that brought more than a dozen local, regional and national media outlets into the shipyard, resulting in positive earned media coverage.I\'ve shared our story from coast to coast and around the world, from high-profile submarine christenings in Virginia, to San Diego during the Armed Forces Carrier Classic on the HII-built USS Abraham Lincoln, and in Australia to support the tri-lateral Australia-United Kingdom-United States (AUKUS) agreement. I develop and support strategic communication initiatives, highlighting our digital transformation, workforce development and depth of experience. These include engagements at the Surface Navy Association Annual Symposium, WEST conference, Sea Air Space conference, and Indo-Pacific Expo. My work has resulted in positive coverage of HII around the world.I lead strategic planning efforts for media engagements, supervise internal communications, serve as the primary media point of contact for the shipyard and play a critical role in the emergency response organization.
