I lead enterprise safety and security operations for Scripps Health—recognized by Fortune as one of the “100 Best Companies to Work For”—supporting five hospital campuses, 30 outpatient centers, and multiple corporate offices. Backed by an outstanding executive team and clinical leadership, I oversee physical security strategy, officer training, workplace violence prevention, and technology modernization to help protect the people and places that make Scripps exceptional.Key accomplishments:• Reduced workplace violence by 31%, avoiding over $1M in cost and helping prevent injuries to nurses, ED techs, PCAs, physicians, and officers—supporting retention and safe care delivery.• Developed and deployed a discreet visual cue system and staff training to help teams safely manage patients with a history of violence—without compromising dignity.• Built a standardized, scalable hospital staffing model based on real-time violence trends from our enterprise WPV dashboard.• Launched “Security Essentials,” a standardized training program for 160+ officers, soon to be followed by “Security Advanced,” enhancing hospital-specific skills in de-escalation, communication, and emergency response.• Created and deployed Scripps’ first mobile patrol unit, expanding coverage to outpatient clinics by reinvesting contract labor savings.• Led the rollout of the Envoy visitor management system. As full deployment nears, we anticipate 40K–50K monthly visitors across the system. Facial recognition, badge automation, and watchlist alerts improve both safety and experience.• Partnered with the FBI to help identify and reunite a non-verbal patient missing for nearly seven years—what became known as Scripps’ “Christmas Miracle.”• Recognized internally as a cybersecurity consultant, leveraging 20 years of FBI experience and a national law enforcement network to provide IOCs and support enterprise threat discussions.
