Toby Sutton, co-founder and COO for the Empowering Tech Group, has taken the business from a budding idea between friends to a flourishing, internationally recognised organisation. His guidance helped the group become a multi-million-pound company with offices in four different continents and over 100 employees. More than 50% of the company’s business is attributed to international trade; this success has been reflected in two BETT award wins for Scanning Pens: Exporter of the Year 2019, and Company of the Year 2020. In 2021, Scanning Pens received the most prestigious accolade in British business when it received The Queen\'s Awards for Enterprise.Empowering Tech has been able to help hundreds of thousands of learners with the support they need to overcome their reading difficulties. Toby, and business partner Jack, aspire to further their mission to promote positivity around learning difficulties helped by the movement #SucceedWithDyslexia.Toby, and business partner Jack, were both awarded an OBE for ‘services to international trade, and to the dyslexia, and special educational needs and disabilities community’ in the 2023 New Year’s honours.Toby is currently studying (on planes, between meetings & in the evenings) for a BA (Honours) Religion, Philosophy and Ethics from The Open University.When he’s not working or studying, Toby enjoys implementing different kinds of strategy whether playing his favourite board game, Risk; wasting hours on “Clash of Clans” or playing cricket (extremely badly) for his local village cricket club.Toby lives in Wiltshire, has two children and a superstar wife.
