Experience
Chief of Staff
May 2022 — Present · Washington, DC, US
As Chief of Staff of the Risk Management Agency, I supported the Administrator and agency leaders in managing a $207B farm safety net that supports over 1.1 million farmers growing more than 600 varieties of food and fiber crops. I coordinated major policy implementation and stakeholder education to ensure that our agency supported the vision of the President and the Secretary of Agriculture. As a senior agency leader, I managed agency interactions with the Office of Congressional Relations, the Office of Intergovernmental and External Affairs, the Office of Communications, stakeholder groups, and agricultural producers. I conducted thorough policy research on a variety of agricultural and conservation topics and provided advice with regards to adoption, adaptation and implementation of those policies. I gained critical principal management experience, serving as the primary advisor for the RMA Administrator as she managed a team of over 400 staff and a public-private partnership with over employees. I provided critical input to the resolution of operational challenges and guided activities and initiatives involving: program planning and performance; communication, messaging and outreach; external and internal engagement; special programs; prioritization and management of daily operations to ensure program implementation and accomplishments meet the Secretary’s agenda.I translated management goals and objectives into effective implementation of mission operations and established control systems and progress reporting requirements to measure accomplishments against goals, evaluate program progress, and adjust progress schedules and priorities to meet new requirements or unforeseen situations. Additionally, I was able to contribute to systemic Departmental change by drafting and updating the agency’s Equity Action Plan, served as liaison for the agency on DEIA, Justice40, and Office of Tribal Relations initiatives, and implemented pilot projects.
