About Todd Treangen
I am currently an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Rice University in Houston, Texas. Prior to joining Rice, I was an Assistant Research Scientist at the Center for Bioinformatics and Computational Biology at the University of Maryland College Park.I received my Ph.D. in Computer Science in 2008 from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Barcelona, Spain, where my work focused on novel data structures, algorithms and software for large-scale comparisons of closely-related bacterial genomes. My PhD advisor was Dr. Xavier Messeguer.Specialties:(meta)genome assembly, metagenomics, comparative and computational genomics, algorithms and heuristics for multiple genome comparison, de novo repeat detection in prokaryote genomes, prokaryote genome dynamics and evolution, graphical user interfaces for genome comparison
