About Ting Zhang
Dr. Zhang received her Ph.D from University of Maryland – College Park in Human Development and Quantitative Methods. She has more than ten years of experience in educational measurement, assessment and statistics. Currently she works at the American Institutes for Research. Among her job responsibilities, she serves as Project Director of the NCES R Project founded by the National Center for Education Statistics, in which she leads a team of statisticians and data scientists developing statistical R tools including EdSurvey, Dire, WeMix and Wcorr for analyzing NCES national and international complex educational data sets including NAEP, TIMSS, PISA, ECLS and NHES. She has been the Principal Investigator of other research projects that study validity issues pertaining to technology-based assessments. She also has been responsible for technical review of NAEP reports, data files, and technical documentation. Dr. Zhang’s research interests focus on complex survey design and technology-based assessment. She received several national and international research awards for her contributions to the field of educational assessment, and has secured multimillion research funding from the U.S. Department of Education and the National Science Foundation for her research projects.
