About Albertina Oliva

I’m driven by a deep commitment to equity and helping others navigate complex systems—whether that’s immigration, philanthropy, or now, personal finance. As the daughter of immigrants and a first-generation college graduate, I’ve seen firsthand how people in my community have been devastated and left behind by a financial system that was never built with us in mind. These experiences fuel my desire to be part of the solution. I’m currently working toward my Certified Financial Planner™ designation with the long-term goal of helping first-generation individuals and children of immigrants build generational wealth, make confident financial decisions, and access tools often out of reach. While I’m early in this journey, I’m eager to learn more about investment strategies, tax planning, small business development, and the nuances of building long-term financial security. In my current role at the Heising-Simons Foundation, I support human rights grantmaking, focusing on equity and systemic change for BIPOC, low-income, and undocumented communities. Through this work and years of experience in philanthropy, research, and nonprofit spaces, I’ve developed strong skills in relationship management, budgeting, and cross-functional collaboration that I’m excited to carry into the world of personal finance.I previously volunteered with the Latina Coalition of Silicon Valley, supporting leadership development for Latinas through the ELLA Program. My past experiences living and working in the Philippines, Mexico, and Guatemala continue to shape my global perspective on access, power, and opportunity.I’m always open to connecting with others in the financial planning space, especially those who care about bridging wealth gaps and creating more inclusive financial systems.
