ABOUT TINA MALONE
Jumping into the deep end has been my career strategy. I was born and raised in rural Iowa. After high school graduation, I saved up enough money for an airline ticket to Arizona and the first month’s rent. Never mind I had never been on a plane, been to Arizona, or knew anyone there; I heard the economy was good. I jumped into the deep end for the possibility of earning enough to put myself through college. I struggled mightily experiencing both housing and food insecurity. I wasn’t drowning, I was learning to stay afloat. My career has been a series of jumping deeply into clinical arenas with limited experience and soaking in a much knowledge as possible, buoyed by chronic curiosity. I am experienced in both medical and behavioral health, residential and acute hospital settings, and now managed care for Medicare, Commercial, Medicaid and TPAs for multiple states. I have even dabbled in teaching RN to BSN students as adjunct faculty. Nursing has provided me with multiple opportunities to grow, develop, and lead; to swim the depths of healthcare. I am grateful for all the plunges because in the end; I have had the privilege of serving others.
