ABOUT TIMYRA CARTER

I am a nurse practitioner whom graduated in August 2021 and is seeking a great job opportunity.I am a highly motivated RN with over 18 years of nursing experience of hands on patient care. My healthcare experience first started as a certified nurse’s assistant for 8 years in various healthcare settings such as hospitals, nursing homes and home care.I worked 1 year as a LPN on the Medical/Surgical unit that I currently work and have been for 10 years. In this position is where I first learned to critically think (outside of the nursing program), prioritize, time management and autonomy. In 2007 I was selected as Patient Care Coordinator after only 2 years as a RN. In this position I learned a new level of responsibility. I play an active role in helping with decisions that affect my unit, I act as a resource to nursing instructors and students of all nursing programs that have clinicals at Presence United Samaritan’s Medical Center. I have also worked as needed at many nursing homes which helped me gain new set of skills concerning long-term care and how differently their policy and procedures were compared to hospital nursing. I have participated on many committees such as patient satisfaction committee which focused on ways to increase patient satisfaction and educate those at the bedside, an educational committee which look for innovative ways to educate staff and patients, the Lean team which looked at the discharge process and looked for ways to improve it by eliminating extra steps and professional practice committee in which I still participate which looks at ways to improve the organization with the current focus on productivity. I teach a CPI class that teaches healthcare workers how to address those aggressive patients in a non violent way when they are harmful to themselves or others. I also participate on the community college student advisory council in which I participate in providing one‘s opinions on new processes and initiatives in the nursing program. I worked as a nurse manager for 5 years, managing 53 employees. My current position is an a NP in Internal Medicine in long term care.
