Community leader – Guided Star Media’s leadership role on issues of urban education, child protection and economic development in Central Indiana. Developed nationally acclaimed project that explored educational and social challenges in a local high school; effort led to creation of a communitywide initiative, “Our Children/Our City,” which has inspired thousands of people to mentor and tutor children and to donate hundreds of thousands of dollars to local nonprofit organizations. Created and led projects that achieved lasting results on state government ethics, high school graduation rates, urban crime, juvenile justice and child protection. Served on various community leadership boards and organized successful fund-raising drives. Organized and led numerous community discussions with top political, business and academic leaders.Strategic planner: Helped shape Star Media annual strategic plans on a director level; served as interim member of Executive Committee in 2012; led Star Media Editorial Board, which regularly meets with top business, academic and political leaders on state and national levels. Coached Star Media’s 2010 Employee of the Year, and helped 75 percent of direct reports to become Star Media Core Value award winners from 20••••13.Innovator – Cast vision for and managed highly successful projects that incorporated new approaches to story-telling and made effective use of digital tools. Exceeded digital goals by reaching 144 percent of page view target in 2013.
