As Director of Blue Heron Communications, I’ve been helping organisations communicate better with their people since 2004.During that time, I’ve:• Led internal communications for a major IT transformation programme at Thames Water, to create a new technology alliance with Accenture, IBM and Deloitte• Led a successful change communications programme for the merger of 21 back office services at Havering and Newham councils into oneSource, London’s largest local government shared support service• Developed and led the communications for a major IT change programme at the National Institute of Health Research, successfully engaging the research and academic communities• Wrote the transition communications plan and developed new communications channels for the Care Quality Commission, contributing to the successful merger of three organisations• Led employee communications for a £700m outsourcing and IT transformation project for T-Systems, achieving very high levels of employee satisfaction with their engagement in the process• Produced Ofsted’s first internal communications plan, improved their communications channels and led internal communications for several major projects• Developed communications for a business transformation and cultural change programme for part of the British Nuclear Group, leading to measurable increases in employee engagement • Developed and implemented new employee communications and engagement tools at Croydon Council contributing to the number of employees feeling well informed exceeding the Workforce Foundation benchmark ‘by a considerable margin’ Other clients I’ve helped with their employee or change communications include the RAC, part of the National Institute of Health Research. Nestle and the Rural Payments Agency, as well as a number of successful consultancy projects.
