Leading teams of engineers, students, or adult volunteers provides new chances to solve problems.Co-designing and fabricating a sensor probe required materials research and selection, prototyping, testing of adhesives, as well as metal fabrication techniques. Proper equipment selection relied on the equipment response in the acidic lake environment. His work garnered him an internship where he designed and fabricated a delivery platform for the probe, learning to use SolidWorks to design it. The SolidWorks CAD Models included part drawings used in fabrication of the delivery platform. Additionally, he designed, fabricated, calibrated, and tested water sampling devices, then attached them to the probe. During thesis research, his skills with a Dremel tool were essential to project success. After each trial run, he prepared the torch body and ground down the burned tube pieces to allow free flow of the helium and propellant.
