About Timothy Kline
I love discovering new ideas and then putting them to the test — as a kid I played legos and Sim City - so naturally I thought I wanted to be an architect. But as I started professional practice I realized I loved problem solving more - I probably spent too much time talking to clients about how to finance, operate, and market their new buildings after we designed them!I’m a systems thinker, life-long learner, and ambiguous problem solver.Don\'t get me wrong, Architecture is awesome! But my true passion has been Go-to-market motions in high tech industries applying emergent technology to new markets, tinkering with new business models. It\'s like being an explorer. This all began when I joined a small San Francisco startup called Uber - then only operating in a few cities. 10 years later, I have worked across real estate, transportation, fintech, e-commerce, and SaaS, to help deliver value to consumers at the intersection of operations, sales, marketing, and product, moving the vision from ambiguity to clarity.Lately at Zillow, I lead high-impact market and partner initiatives — driving launch and adoption of new products into our markets, aligning sales motions, marketing, enablement, and product. Previously, I’ve built and optimized GTM and operational systems at companies like Meta, Uber, BigCommerce, and high-growth marketplaces, often stepping into environments where the business had outgrown its current processes. What ties my work together is a bias toward:• End-to-end systems thinking (people, process, tooling, incentives)• Building from zero to one — then scaling• Data-informed decision making - but gut check it by looking up at the environment your in• Cross-functional leadership across Sales, Product, Engineering, Finance, and OpsI’m especially energized by moments of transition — new business models, new products, or new stages of scale — where thoughtful systems design can unlock disproportionate impact.Outside of work you can find me making surrealist acrylic paintings, swimming, traveling, and generally exploring. Please reach out and let\'s chat!
